Our Founder

Giovanna is an early childhood education enthusiast and advocate for inclusion. She founded First Lessons Preschool to provide every child with a meaningful and inclusive learning experience.

Most recently, Giovanna was a member of the leadership team at the Google Children's Center, an early childhood program launched in 2007. Grounded in the Reggio Emilia approach, the center emphasized nurturing environments, responsive teaching, and a culture of innovation that aligned with Google's ethos.

When Google decided to close its Children’s Centers in late 2024, Giovanna seized the opportunity to pursue her long-held vision of creating inclusive, community-driven preschools. In August 2024, she founded First Lessons Preschool, driven by her unwavering belief that every child deserves equitable access to high-quality early education.

With a deep passion for fostering diversity and empowerment, Giovanna is committed to building environments where all children feel valued, supported, and included. Her work extends beyond the school—she also serves on the Associate Board of Children's Council San Francisco, advocating for the local San Francisco community and resources that support early childhood education and family access to care.
