Food Philosophy
At First Lessons, we believe food is a powerful tool for building community, fostering environmental consciousness, and supporting healthy bodies. We provide high-quality morning snack, lunch and afternoon snacks and strive to source organic ingredients whenever possible. We have partnered with Jackie’s Supper Club for our lunches, allowing us to provide your child’s mind and body with a compassionate and sustainable approach to nutrition (+ we love supporting a woman owned, San Francisco based, small business!)
Our Commitment to Safe & Healthy Eating
We prioritize the health and well-being of every child by ensuring that the food and water they consume are handled with the utmost care. We do not reheat food in plastic or use foil, instead opting for glass, stainless steel, or ceramic for all food preparation and serving. To provide the purest drinking water, we use a ZeroWater filter, ensuring children stay hydrated with clean, high-quality water. Additionally, all cleaning and household products used in our space are EWG-approved, aligning with our commitment to a safe and non-toxic environment.
Except when it comes to disinfecting: We use child care licensing-approved products that guarantee the elimination of germs and help prevent the spread of illness, ensuring a clean and hygienic space for all children.
By making these intentional choices, we create a space where children can thrive while reducing exposure to harmful chemicals.
